Birthday Cake Batter Rice Crispy Treats

It's almost Monday!
And, man!
Did my family have a fabulous weekend!

Date Night
Park
Feather Extensions
Quick Thunderstorm
{that was SO needed}
Church
Family Dinners
And, yes dessert!

As I browsed bloggy parties last week, I stumbled upon A Well-Seasoned Life
{FYI- fantastic blog with awesome recipes!! If you haven't visited her blog yet, go check it out!}
She prepared Cake Batter Rice Crispy Treats for the 4th and I haven't been able to stop thinking about them ...

So, off to the store I went, looking for the ingredients:

Please excuse my need to play with Picnik! ;)

1 bag Marshmallows
4 tbsp. Unsalted Butter
1/2 cup Cake Mix
Splash of Creme Bouquet Flavoring
6 cups Rice Crispy Cereal
Good handful Sprinkles

Method:
In a large saute pan, melt marshmallows and butter on medium heat until smooth.

Add cake mix {I used the French Vanilla flavor, but White or Yellow will work just as well} and creme bouquet {this flavoring can be found in any cake decorating store - it's used by many bakeries to flavor white cakes. If you don't want to make the special purchase just for this recipe, simply omit it or substitute vanilla extract} and combine. Pour in cereal and sprinkles {I would use jimmies or sanding sugar - the coating on nonpareils tends to run} and stir until all cereal is coated in the marshmallow mixture.

Pour rice crispy's into a greased pan to set.

Tada!

This recipe is a great alternative to the regular ol' treats and would make perfect Rice Crispy Cupcakes for birthday parties! Just roll them into a ball {your hands will need to be greased}, place them in a cupcake liner and either frost with icing or drizzle with chocolate. The kids will LOVE 'em!

These little bites of happiness can cure any case of
The Monday Blues, for sure!
Enjoy!

I'm so pinning this.

My lil man loves Rice Krispie Treats but hates cake or cookies (RKT's are seriously the only sweet he'll eat!) so I am always look for alternative ways to dress them up, make them fun, and different for him. This looks awesome!

Oh and I love using the Princess cake and cookie flavoring and the butter vanilla from the same company. I'll have to give the one you suggested a try.

Just wanted to warn you that raw, unbaked cake mix can have salmonella, just like raw eggs. Be careful!
